Started in 2021 by Daniel Schneider, Black Dog Trivia was inspired by the namesake quizmaster, Louie (the four-legged one in the photo). You can read more about our history in this article from the Independent!
What about prizes, you ask? Black Dog Trivia boasts a range of local Santa Barbara sponsors, meaning the prizes get shaken up more than Louie after a day at Hendry's Beach. Aside from the fame and glory that comes with winning one of our trivia nights or built-in mini-games, you might win gift cards to local spots, free drinks or something else entirely!
Ultimately, the point of Black Dog Trivia is to have fun! Hence one of our very fews rules: if you don't know the answer, write something funny! A good sense of humor might just get you a funny prize.
So whether you're playing solo, with friends, or even with your own furry companion, we invite you to join us on this journey of building community and testing your knowledge!

With a theater background and a passion for psychology, Brooke brings warmth, energy, and charisma to every event. Her bubbly personality and love for people create a fun, welcoming atmosphere that keeps the crowd engaged.
VADE
By day, Vade is pursuing his PhD; by night, he channels his love of geography, science, and random facts into hosting trivia. With his warm energy, passion for Black Dog Trivia, and adoration for black dogs, he makes every game night welcoming, fun, and a great place to connect with others.
ERIC
Eric loves diving into the world of movies, pop culture, and storytelling; he brings that same enthusiasm to hosting trivia. A devoted fan of Avatar: The Last Airbender and all things cinematic, Eric loves connecting with people and making every game night a fun, engaging, and memorable experience.
MCKAY
A Santa Barbara native with a love for movies, music, mythology, and puzzles, McKay brings his curiosity and creativity to every trivia night. With his quick humor and friendly energy, he makes sure every game feels like a mix of challenge, connection, and pure fun.
NOAH
By day, Noah is an architect; by night, he brings his love of geography and general knowledge to the trivia stage. With his improv background and passion for connecting with people, Noah creates a lively, engaging atmosphere that makes every trivia night feel spontaneous and fun.
JULIA
A SB native and teacher, Julia was a trivia regular before joining the Black Dog Trivia hosting team. With her love for Glee, pop girls, and all things trivia, she brings enthusiasm and warmth to every game night. Her passion for learning and connecting with the community makes everyone feel welcomed!
DANIEL B.
As a teacher who thrives on helping people connect, Daniel views every trivia night as the perfect playbook for good vibes, great laughs, and building community. He loves diving into the world of sports, teamwork, and friendly competition, and he brings that exact same enthusiasm to hosting trivia.
CC
CC is a Santa Barbara native who loves community and competition. They love delving into music, anime, trashy reality TV, and animals; and bring that same passion to hosting trivia. A night of trivia with CC will leave you feeling welcome, engaged, and connected.
GRACIE
Gracie combines her love of talking, dogs, and trivia into one! She's excited to host your trivia nights and bring plenty of laughs and good times along the way. Be sure to show her pictures of your dog, cat, or any other furry friend for an instant "Awwww!"
